Scroll down to "how do I post pictures", the pic has to be hosted somewhere, like Imgur or Tinypic.

Could you give some more details?

Location? Also location in lawn (i.e. sunny six hours a day area)

Watering schedule?

Type of grass?

It looks like something fungal, but I'm sure the turfgrass pros on here will give you their advice and remedy.

Thanks for posting the pic for me. I typically water 30 minutes twice a week. I'm located in Bryan and the lawn gets full all day sun and is st Augustine

I'm no expert but it looks like TARR- take all root rot. I believe the treatment for that is peat moss top dressing. I will edit my reply after I check my book.

Edit- if it is TARR, then they prefer brown Canadian peat moss (something to do with the acid?) and the amount (approximately 1 bale per 1000 sq ft of turf) is listed at the bottom of the page in this link:

If it's TARR, those brown spots are beyond saving in the short term. Rake it up and throw away, then peat moss top dress it with a good border into the healthy grass.

30mins per zone twice a week? If that zone is pop up spray heads then thats quite a bit of water. If its rotors then its not too bad. We run our pop up sprays anywhere from 15-20mins per zone during the summer and rotors 30-45mins per station, twice a week (water restrictions). We also "cycle & soak", 2 start times, half your normal zone run time to allow water to penetrate our clay soils without runoff.

Can you post some closer pics of the leaf blades especially those that are green or yellow green that might have yellow or tan spots on them? I'm thinking its gray leaf spot.

When did this area show up?

Have you fertilized recently with a high nitrogen fert?

I will take a picture when it dries up outside. How is 30 minutes twice a week too much?

Probably because much of that 30 min watering is just run off and not actually soaking into the ground.

Just imagine how 1/6 would've played out if DC hadn't had such strict gun laws.

I'm having my own issues. Any ideas what this could be? My first thought is chinch bug. I live in the Houston area.

I run ABC here in BCS and we've been having a lot of success on the yards that we've found TARR. I can have our lawn care specialist come take a look, get a soil sample to confirm it's TARR, and put together a plan and pricing to keep it managed.
