This year I will be taking over the lawn applications in earnest....Im in San Antonio....Looks like we will be having daytime highs in low to mid 60s until Feb 11 and nighttime lows in the low 40s

Ive been watching the ground temperatures online for my area (Helotes) and it is gradually going up, now in low 50s on avg

I dont want to miss my window of opportunity to apply the pre emergent....

When is too early to spray or should I wait until late Feb

Take a look at this schedule. It is the best recommendation out there. You should be OK to apply now but no hurry. You have a pretty nice window of opportunity. Try and time it with a rain a coming for best results.

Where is the best place to get it? Last year I checked and all our big box stores (Lowe's etc) wanted to sell was different varieties of Weed N Feed.

If I wanted to use no chemicals, what would be a good option? Corn gluten?

Sperry recommended waiting another few weeks.

Liquid or granular? I've never done the spray but talked to someone recently that told me to try that route...

Healthy grass. Corn gluten is a scam.

What brands do you use? Is this all stuff someone can find at home depot?

No, Home Depot sucks.

Ace is the only place I've been able to find the stuff Randy recommends.

I typically wait until you see the first dogwood/pear blooms. They are all over the place and you will notice because they are white flowers and are pretty much the first bloom to come out.

The big box stores do not usually carry the stuff he recommends. I have had good luck in the past hitting up local nursery's.

same question, but mine was put down in May. I've heard its best to hold off on premergents for the first dormant/green up cycle, but don't recall where I heard that or whether it was from a reliable source.

doesn't hurt. a pre-e simply prevents germination from seeds so a sod won't be affected.
