I finally got around to climbing through the attic to look for any leaks post Harvey. I had done a brief check with a flashlight a week ago but didn't see anything. Saturday I actually crawled around to get closer looks and found the following.

The roof is leaking at the corner of the chimney and running down to the chimney framing. There are no visible signs inside the house as it is all inside the fireplace facade. The wood was still damp under the insulation. The wood seems pretty rotten so this was likely happening for a while.

Should we just go through insurance in case there is mold behind the fireplace facade? This is definitely something beyond my abilities and desire to do framing work in the far reaches of an attic. Any recommendations for companies to fix this in the Spring area?
