Silly question:

What do y'all find works best for squeaky door hinges? I know WD40 and the like can make a mess and gum up. Someone recommended using graphite and that hasn't worked. We have some (interior and exterior) that have become pretty loud and annoying.

I use white lithium grease in a spray can. It can be messy but is very effective. I remove the pins, wipe them clean, then spray on the grease. Back they go and no more squeaks for years at a time.

Look for thick bike chain grease. Pull pin and grease.

I use wheel bearing grease from the garage. I've got a can of spray lithium WD-40, but it's easier just to smear some grease on from a tub.
