Gutter Covers and Pine Needles

Does anybody use covers on your gutters? If so, what kind? I'm considering adding some covers as I'm sick and tired of gutters filled with pine needles. In theory, the covers would improve that. But do they really? Or are you trading one problem for another?

My experience is that covers get clogged as well - especially with "needles"...
And, that except for walks, porches, garage entrances, etc, where they are useful., gutters are useless maintenance traps, hide places for bugs to live, cover up/enhance facia rot, make it difficult to paint, and generally collect leaves and needles and trash like it or not...etc,....

Parents have had good results going on 13 years now with gutters called leaf guard. Don't know if they're still around our what name they're under. edit, found their website!

Single piece gutter whee the top creates a weir that tools the water in to the gutter but sheds debris, even needles, off the front.

I put these in a couple months ago after a hail storm knocked holes in my old ones (which were thinner). I don't have pine trees around the house to comment on needles but these are fairly easy to install yourself.

What's your budget? Gutter guards have a pretty wide range.

They all have their pros & cons. I installed these based on Consumer Reports and am happy. Allows you to open them since they're hinged to clean out any debris as needed.

Unsure on budget. Looking at it as part of a larger landscaping plan. And some garage work. I've see one sample that's basically just a wire mesh, that I no for sure won't work with the pine needles.

I've seen a micro mesh stainless material that I'd say is about the only thing that would allow water in and shed needles and other small debris like pollen stems and such. The standard expanded wire won't work and I've seen the hooded type 1 piece with needles in them as well. They aren't cheap, but I've had a customer put them in after a lot of research and he's happy with them.

Rhino is what he used, I believe. But there are some other makers out there as well and I've seen similar on Amazon.
