Anyone here ever built their own pool?

I am in the research stage and plan to handle this myself. I can handle the excavation, plumbing and electrical and will sub out the gunite and concrete deck.

Be careful with your excavation. When the gunite shows up you will be paying for all of the gunite needed to finish the job. Over excavation will lead to additional gunite and it isn't cheap.

Modern method was fantastic for gunite and plaster. Very professional and good work.

They're a company that does gunite and plaster. They did our PebbleSheen replaster and did a great job.

The best pool installs employ a structural engineer in this high P.I. soils Brazos County ... remember the underground house implosion in Foxfire? The engineer will tell you what size/placement rebar will be require to mitigate cracks, damage, implosion, etc.

Doing plumbing & electrical self as well?

I can handle the electrical and plumbing. The concrete is sub.

And I am no where near Brazos County.
