Do I have root rot? The front yard is looking pretty weak and is starting to spread. The front towards the sidewalk is still fine.

You can see where I just put down some peat moss.

Lots of those mini/stunted looking crawlers are popping up and have brown spots on them. They don't really grow more than that though.

This is a dead stolon from one of the really bare spots.

I did put down some compost a few weeks ago in one area and it seemed to help quite a bit

I'm not 100% certain, but that middle picture looks like a strand of Bermuda grass.

I agree. Middle pic looks like Bermuda popping up with maybe some type of fungus or mold/mildew on it. I would put out some corn gluten meal on grass and cut watering back to help with fungus.

St Augustine pic looks like TARR, we've seen a lot of it in our neighborhood due to the cool wet spring this year. Raking/aerating and Adding peat and compost should correct.

Make sure you are battling Take Off Root Rot and not cotton root rot. The very best source to google and read all he has written over the years on the subject is the God Father of Gardening and devoted Aggie Ag. Grad. NEIL SPERRY. Here are a few links to his articles over the years.

I forgot to add that research shows if you do have TARR (take off root rot) you need to put down a layer of acid organic matter such as Canadian peat moss not compost. Here is another link on TARR.
