Has anyone had either vinyl siding other types of siding put on their home? If so who did you use in the Bryan/College Station area?

Vinyl is very popular in the north east.

In a cold climate it lasts along time without needing to be painted. Sure it fades over time, but as long as you chose a lighter color, the fading doesn't look so bad. Most of the residential fencing is plastic as well. Sure plastic looks horrible, is expensive to repair, and not very sturdy - a lawnmower throwing a small pebble can puncture a hole in the side of the wall - but it lasts.

In the south where it's hot - vinyl doesn't last as long thus making it a bad choice all around for your area. My guess is people will sell a product down there that they say is suited for the hotter environment - but it's still vinyl.

My wife are thrilled to no longer in in the North East - away from the land of plastic houses!
