We are having our hardwood floors stained and refinished. They put down sample stains for us to pick from today and the standard stains (bottom row) came out much lighter than anything I've seen in pictures online or sample swatch pictures online for each respective stain. The top row indicates that denature alcohol is applied prior to the stain to achieve a darker end result. The use of the alcohol is an extra $0.50 per sq ft. I would have expected the standard stain without alcohol to come out like the top row, so I'm curious if they're doing their best to push us to spend an extra $700 by applying a super light "standard coat" of each stain on the bottom row -
And really the pic doesn't do the coloring justice. They are even lighter in person.
