I'm in the process of redoing my flower bed and the soil comes up too high on the foundation (only about 2 inches of slack so need an additional 2-4). As part of the project, I'm installing a small gravel footpath (about a foot wide) which will run against the foundation. I've already dug a trench that will give me the additional foundation exposure needed plus allow for about 1.5-2 inches of gravel.
Now my problem is that there's a good slope between the trench and the rest of the garden. Do I basically need to remove the soil from the rest of the bed to ensure it's flat and, assuming this is the case 1) Is there a better way to do it than just using a shovel and 2) any recommendations on getting rid of the excess soil and debris?
I'm new at this so appreciate any advice you might have.
