Itinerary still coming together but this is what we've got at the moment. We got basically the last available tee time at Lahinch and are building around that.

Original plan was to play up north but I actually kinda like this one better.

Day 1: Fly from US to Dublin
Day 2: Arrive in Dublin and warm up round at Corballis
Day 3: Portmarnock
Day 4: European Club
Day 5: Royal Dublin
Day 6: Rest day and travel to Lahinch
Day 7: Lahinch and travel to Killarney
Day 8: Ballybunion
Day 9: Tralee
Day 10: Waterville
Day 11: Dooks and travel to Kinsale
Day 12: Old Head
Day 13: Fly from Shannon to US

Trump Doonbeg is only like 30 min from Lahinch and I'd highly recommend

Cliffs of Moher by lahinch too...like 15 min drive

Day 6 you could do Doonbeg or play lahinch and doonbeg same day if tee time allows

On Day 2 you might consider The Island Golf Club instead of Corballis. A very fun course to begin your Ireland trip. It is probably $100 more than Corballis but more in line with the rest of your trip - golf course caliber wise.
That's a great trip. Enjoy !

Island is on the list for nice courses around Dublin.

The logic behind NOT playing an awesome course is that when we went to Scotland we flew in and out of Manchester and played Lytham pretty much right off the plane. And it was a fog. None of us remember much about the round.

So we were thinking the first day would be a bit of a warm up day.

I'll add to the recommendation of The Island. Some of my pics.

Looks sick but no visitors on the weekend which is most of the time we will be in Dublin. Several courses have similar rules so we had to pick and are going with Portmarnock.

That's golf

I'll second 369 and say play Doonbeg if you can. I went twice before Trump bought it and I know he made some tweaks but it's a fantastic property. Dooks is nothing special. I hope the weather is good for you on Old Head because it's spectacular. Have fun!

A couple of places we are having to make some adjustments on tee times due to availability.

If you are heading to Ireland, book VERY far in advance.

I looked at Ireland a few months ago and made that same determination. Therefore, my group is going to England in 2023

Day 0: Arrive LHR
Day 1: Sunningdale Old and New (36)
Day 2: Swinley Forest
Day 3: St. George's Hill
Day 4: Travel then play Formby
Day 5: Royal Liverpool
Day 6: Royal Birkdale
Day 7: Royal Lytham & St. Annes
Day 8: Depart MAN

I may try to squeeze in an extra round on day 5, 6 or 7.

England clubs are a bit different than Ireland or Scotland. They get far less guest play, but they also allow far less guest play. They also open their books much later.

Lytham is VERY cool. I don't remember a ton about the round but the course and the club are awesome. It's this amazing course with so much history and it's just in a neighborhood. On a par 3 we had to wait because there was a big group of schoolchildren crossing across the course to go home in the afternoon. Make sure you leave plenty of time to have a long lunch at the clubhouse to take it all in. Everyone was super cool.

We chatted with some members in the locker room and they said they would've loved to play with us and offered to set up a game later during our trip but the schedules didn't work out. Not sure how we would've arranged it in advance but if I were going back I'd try.

Maybe contact the club ahead of time and tell them you'd enjoy playing with some members of any are interested. Seems like a no risk high reward opportunity.

Thanks for the thoughts on Royal Lytham.

Part of my challenge on this trip is that I have some guys that would play 36 every day, and some guys who are quite content with 18 a day, spending the rest of the time in the clubhouse or local pub. I am kind of in the middle, though the best day I had on the '22 Scotland trip was a morning 18 at Royal Dornoch, followed by lunch in the clubhouse and the rest of the afternoon at a pub in the village of Dornoch.

I have a trip next August. Just me and my wife. We started planning it at Thanksgiving 2021. (Only eight months to go). My wife does not golf, so there are sightseeing days built in as well.

Day 1 Arrive Dublin
Day 2 The Island
Day 4 Old Head
Day 5 Waterville
Day 7 Lahinch
Day 8 Tralee
Day 10 Portrush am
Portstewart pm
Day 12 Royal County Down
Day 13 Portmarnock
Day 15 Leave Dublin

Only thing left to do is remember how to drive on the left side of the road.
