Heading to Scottsdale next week with a bunch of Aggies. We have tee times booked at Gray Hawk, Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain, and We-Ko-Pa Saguaro. Do y'all have any restaurant recommendations or maybe any private chef recs as well? TIA.

Have you checked the over seed schedule for the courses? It's getting to be that time. You probably are just ahead of it though. Usually starts after 9/20 or so.

Was there last weekend for golf. We went to Pizzeria Bianco for a nicer pizza dinner. Apparently the owner/chef is pretty highly considered in the pizza world.

We did We-ko-pa and Gray Hawk in June and Steak 44 was top notch for dinner. Ended up going there both nights if that tells you anything.

Played Sidewinder on Monday (also Gold Canyon, with Dinosaur), and wherever you wind up going for dinner, I highly recommend a hotdog at the turn.. They aren't screwing around. Amazing hot dog.

The Mission has a pretty good take on mexican food. STK is supposed to be pretty solid, but haven't been there.

Either way, we have a little front moving through, so enjoy the weather!

For food check out Toca Modero in downtown Scottsdale. The food is great but the atmosphere is what makes the place. You'll need a reservation at least a week in advance.

If you're looking for something more casual, beer drinking, game watching and what I think is good food there are two Culinary Dropout locations in Scottsdale. One on Camelback and the other near Kierland and TPC Scottsdale.

I don't even remember that joint. Guess they did/do have some excellent margaritas.

I did go to Goldwater Brewery. Good brew and good location to sit outside and enjoy a few pints (or quarts) of brew.

Man they're baked right now.

That par 3 at Dinosaur Mountain is wild. Pictures don't do it justice. That new house behind the tee has a sick view

If you had one night in Scottsdale with the wife and had time to play one round and a resort, which one would you choose?

We are going to Sedona for New Years and staying the night in Scottsdale the day we arrive in PHX. Current plan was to stay in Old Town and play WeKoPa or Gray Hawk the next morning before heading to Sedona. I wonder if it would be more convenient to go to a stay and play resort?

I love WeKoPa, played Cholla before and want to play Saguaro. Just can't convince the wife to stay at their casino again lol

Love GHawk. I actually prefer Talon over Raptor. Troon Monument is a gem as well.

Sunridge Canyon is a blast as well as best ****in hot dog at turn I've ever had.

My favorite course (it's a 40 min drive east) will forever be Dinosaur Mountain

Sunridge is under appreciated. The smokehouse between 9 and 10 is solid, the patio is great and the last 6 holes are really a hard finish.

It's nothing compared to WeKo, but I stayed at the Phoenician recently and played their course. It was a fun little resort course, and the hotel was nice.

Just an option if nothing else comes together.

If you're staying in old town may I suggest playing TPC Scottsdale (champions course). Cheaper than the stadium course and still very good IMO and convenient to where your staying.

I would also add on Talking Stick Oodham. It was a really fun course that was redesigned by Coore/Crenshaw. So certainly strong architecturally

We played it 4 years ago. Felt like a casino resort course to us. Just our opinion

I would be totally onboard with staying at a casino, but if I were to it would be WeKoPa... which was nixed by the lady. We stayed at WeKoPa casino a couple years ago and she wasn't a fan of it lol

The TPC Champions course has me intrigued. I also just ralized Grayhawk is basically $300+ and i'm trying to keep it under $250, TPC Champions fits that bill.

How is Camelback Padre compared to WeKoPa Saguaro? Would anyone choose Camelback?

Good to hear right now we are looking at TPC Champions, 36 at WeKoPa, and looking for one more round around $200 like E. We are going in April. Was going to do Sunridge Canyon but some of the reviews were surprisingly not good.

Have you played or heard anything about The Phoenician ?
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Haven't. My last trip there was TPC and Troon North. And looking at the Troon rates + 90 day backup I'm lucky as hell I did the trip when I did because prices are stupid now.
