It's got everything to do with LIV. Not sure how you can say this doesn't have anything to do with it.
No, no. We just don't understand.

LIV proved that the PIF was willing to spend billions over the long term to force their way into golf and that got the PGAT to come to the table. I'll give you that. But other than the PIF's unlimited money, I don't see think the actual results of LIV played a role.
I mean, let's recap. PIF is not LIV. It backs LIV, in addition to countless other investments. Today, the PIF decided to financially back LIV's main competitors, agreed to allow LIV golfers to return to the PGAT, Norman looks like he's out of a job, and the entire league may fold. So tell me again how LIV somehow stuck it to the Tour?
If I worked for a company who's primary backer signed a huge deal with our competitor, told us we could start looking around, canned our CEO, and created the impression the whole thing might close down, I wouldn't consider that a banner day.

PIF entire goal through LIV was to dethrown PGA leadership. They now own them and control the future of golf .
Anything else is just spin to help you sleep at night.

"Anytime I said anything, I said it with the information that I had at that moment, and I said it based on someone that's trying to compete for the PGA Tour and our players. I accept those criticisms, but circumstances do change. I think that in looking at the big picture and looking at it this way, that's what got us to this point."

Phil will in fact be a martyr when all is said and done. The PGA is going to have to cave to a lot of demands the players have.
