Ags are in Arkansas to kick off their 20-21 season this week. We return virtually everyone from a team that finished 19-20 top 10 in the nation. I'm expecting pretty big things this year.
Dan Erickson and Brandon Smith are back as seniors. They were both seniors last year so guessing they were able to regain an extra year of eligibility due to Covid. That's pretty big for depth and I'm sure both will be motivated to make the most of their opportunity to play one more year in Aggieland.
Walker Lee was our best player last year and he also returns as a senior. Sam Bennett, who made the US Amateur match play field, will be a junior. That's four pretty experienced guys at the top of the lineup.
William Paysse and Jimmy Lee are both sophomores this year. They played alot of tournaments as freshmen last year and hopefully will continue to improve. We've also got some very talented freshmen coming in. Should be some good competition for spots on the top 5!
This first tournament is at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville. Erickson, Smith, Bennett and Lee are pretty familiar with the course, as it hosted the 2019 NCAA Championship. The Ags made the match play quarterfinals that year only to lose in heartbreaking fashion to Vanderbilt.
We got off to a good start in the first round but have leaked a little since. Here's the leaderboard to follow along:
