Been awhile since the last update, but this is the final week before the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

- Burgoon, Palmer and Pavan all had good weeks in Nevada opposite the WGC
- Shindler had a top 4 finish on the Korn Ferry tour (Web.com)
- Palmer and Champ have qualified for the Playoffs, Burgoon has some work to do this week
- Pavan is now ranked 79 in the world, just behind Palmer at 68

Good luck to everyone this week on their respective tours!

Dang...what the hell is happening to Champ?

He has been struggling big time.

Injury?

I think he just caught lightning in a bottle for a month right when he came on Tour. Created wildly false expectations for him.

Yes and he has to figure everything out after he hits his driver....Being long only helps if you can get it in the hole all the time...(pun intended)

Champ finishes birdie birdie to make the weekend
Palmer also makes the weekend.

Champ simply making the cut is progress for him. Hopefully he can go low this weekend.

Also, Greg Yates is on the front page of the leaderboard in the Korn Ferry Tour event in Portland. Top 75 after this one advance to KFT Championship. Last I saw his projection was 60.

Champ went -2 today. Should be a top 25 finish.

Yates birdies 3 of last 4 on Sunday to put him just inside top 75 to qualify for Finals. So clutch. Hope it holds

Champ advances in the fedex playoff. Needs a good week to get inside the top 30 though.

Burgoon is 1 shot off the lead at the Korn Ferry tourney. With a top 5 finish, he'll wrap up his card for next year.

He wasn't a lock with his top 125 FEDEX cup finish?

He wasn't in the top 125. You don't play in the Korn Ferry finals if you made the top 125. You play in the FedEx cup playoffs.

Just going off of memory. I thought he made the first round of the fedex playoffs.

So the top 25 of the KFT regular season get their cards, and then the top 25 of the KFT Finals get their card? Is the "Finals" solely the Boise Open or is it a series of events?

The latter.

Is it structured like the FedEx, where those who played well early on were rewarded with a head start in Boise?

The top 25 from the regular season get their cards (already earned them).

All the guys from 126-200 in FedEx Cup points get to play in the KF Finals to try to earn their cards back (although 126-150 have some status and a certain amount of starts next year).

The top 75 in KF season points also make the Finals.

The Finals consist of 3 events, just like the FedEx Playoffs. The top 25 in the finals (dubbed the Finals 25) get their cards. Those in "The 25" who already earned their cards do not count in The Finals 25, but their points still count in the original 25, which is important for someone like Scottie who won last week. He now sits atop "the 25" and the guy that finishes first after next week is fully exempt and gets in The Players.

The Finals is basically the next 25 guys, but it's only in these 3 tournaments, and includes 75 who played mostly on the PGA Tour this season.

Boise is the second of the three tournaments. Next week is the KF Tour Championship.

Hopefully that makes sense.

- Burgoon had a great par save on #18 yesterday to finish in the top 5 for the weekend, which will give him some breathing room headed into the final event this week to earn his card for the 2020 season.

- Pavan had another good showing on the Euro Tour, and has a chance to surpass Palmer in the OWGR for the highest ranked Aggie

Just looked to see how many Euro Tour events were left to increase his rank...didn't realize the Dubai tournament isn't for another three months! They literally play year-round.

The PGA Tour only takes two weeks off before the new season starts. They're back at it at Greenbrier in a couple of weeks, and I would imagine it will have a decent field. The new schedule is much better than in years past, as far as the fall events go.

Golf is pretty much a year round sport these days.

Bronson has clinched his card for next year, with the top 5, he's just battling to get better status for next season at this point. Solo 6th or 3 way tie for 5th in any playoff event locks up card, with his 2 weeks he's good to go!

Yeah, but the season long championship is already done on the PGA tour. It's not taking place til late November on the Euro tour. The events coming up on the PGA will largely be rookies and non-stars.

Very true, but the Euros don't have football in the fall to compete with TV sets. That's the reason the PGA Tour ended it earlier this year.

I think we'll see some big names more in the fall this year than we have in the past, but only time will tell. Greenbrier and Houston might draw some, then you have the WGC event in China.
