Howdy.

A group of us is going to Thursday's round at the Masters. We plan on playing golf ourselves that Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Which of these courses (or others you may know of) do y'all recommend:
(I believe all of these are public or semiprivate.)

If you are a member of a club where you play, get your pro to write a letter of introduction to Augusta Country Club. It's a fun track and you get to hit shots over Ray's Creek, just like the posh next door neighbor club members do.

Any idea how much they charge during Masters Week? Might look into this.

I can't speak for the other courses, but last year a buddy and I did the UGA course prior to heading to Augusta. Idk if it will help your decision, but I posted some pics in one of the posts in my trip thread:

I think it was $225. I played a ton of golf during Masters week, greens fees aren't for the faint of heart.

We also played the following courses:
The River Golf Club in North Augusta, SC ($250, but spectacular).

And we played The Reserve. Private Club just across the river, in South Carolina. Wonderful place. They had several packages available, ranging from $190 - $500.

Stone Mountain, in Stone Mountain GA. OK track, inexpensive, compared to the above. if I recall, it was about $75.

Forest Hills Golf Course in Augusta. Public course. Designed by Donald Ross. Bunkers can be penal. Some of the greens had bare spots. We played there on Monday after The Masters for about $60. Old school course, but poorly maintained.

Anyone ever play the Georgia club or Cherokee Run. Looking at options between Atlanta and Augusta as well. Perhaps Athens area, right now just sticking with whats on GolfNow

Looked at UGA but as expected they hiked their rates over 100 percent for a 3some during masters week. Is it that much better than our campus course? Or the ones I listed? Same price points

Have you seen the campus course lately? Was in CS over the weekend and it's looking sort of Bryan Muni like.

Friend played UGA last spring with clients and said it was very nice.

It's winter and been a tough one but it looked rough saturday. Spring will help, but I heard really good things about UGA.

I played Cherokee Run and The Frog the last time I went to The Masters in 2013. We played 36 at Cherokee Run and I think I remember them having a Masters Week special with a cheap replay rate, lunch, and a tin with Pro-V's, tees and what not with Cherokee Run logos. I remember it being pretty good. The Frog was also nice. I don't think you could go wrong with either of those but haven't played any others on your list.

I am going on Wednesday this year and thus far have set up the tentative golf itinerary as follows:

Tues AM: Arrowhead Point
Tues PM: Cateechee Golf Course
Thur AM: Achasta Golf Course
Fri AM: Not sure but thinking Reunion, Chateau Elan, or Georgia Club.

I was thinking the UGA course for Friday, but after seeing your note about the rate hike I think I will pass.

I did a bunch of research over on golfwrx.com and these are some of the better reviewed affordable options. We are staying in Athens for the week.

So far I have only been able to get on the tee sheet at Arrowhead. The others will not let me until sometime next week. Good luck with your planning and have a good trip.

I am also going to the Tuesday practice round and thinking about playing Monday on a decent cheap course. Anyone have any opinion of the 3 listed below. These are all Masters packages for courses either in Augusta or in route from Atlanta:

I would appreciate any opinions also. Thanks.

I played last year during Masters Week at both Harbor Club and The Landings at Reynolds Plantation. Both were really nice, but I think you might have trouble getting tee times this late in the game.
