Thinking of getting mine cut down (at 45" currently). Seems long for someone my size (5'4). Curious to see what y'all are gaming

45.25" for me.

If you cut the shaft from the butt end...you need to be aware of the swingweight change.

For every 1/2" cut from the butt end...you'll lose 3 swingweight points.

An average golfer can't feel the difference in 1 swingweight point.

Most golfers can feel the difference in 2 swingweight points and beyond.

Depending on your Driver head...you may be able to offset the lost swingweight with aftermarket weights...or lead tape.

Will cutting affect the flex? Seems like it could make it stiffer. Could be wrong though as I have no info to back that hypothesis with

Had mine dropped down to 44".

Sergio uses a 43" driver. Think he may be the shortest on tour.

Would choking up be a smarter option for someone in this boat so as not to affect the performance of the club as much?

Yes...but you still have to account for the swingweight decrease.

JJ, are these the type of weights you're referring to?

Yes...but first you need to know what the stock weight comes off the rack in the driver head.

If I remember correctly the calculation for headweight is 2 grams per 1 swingweight point.

6'3 and play at 45". Seem to make good, consistent center contact at that length. When/if I struggle hitting fairways, I tend to choke up another 1/2"-1".

I like heavy clubs. So I got mine tipped instead of cut off the back. Think it's a 44.5 now. Plays between x and xs

Just remember that to get a true number subtract about 3 inches from everyone's response.

Just ordered a Great Big Bertha from Callaway Pre-Owned and had them cut the shaft down to 44"
I like it so far. but I may add some weight since it feels pretty light right now. I may just add another sliding weight to the track if I can find one for sale on ebay.

As an aside, CPO is pretty awesome. I got that GBB for $160 with the shaft being cut. It was in "Like new" condition. When it arrived it still had the shrink wrap on it.

I have the XR16 with that Kuro Kage in stiff. I realize everyone is different but I think you are gonna really like it.

Got my driver cut down to 43.5, and added some lead tape. Has helped my accuracy immensely
