But Daddy SEC is guaranteed to hoist a championship trophy. I think that matters more than the mostly meaningless bowl games.

Don't get me wrong. I was happy to see OU beat the pink highlighters team from Oregon, and ecstatic when OSU beat Notre Dame. But the only trophy that matters at the end of the day is the Championship for all of CFB.
That's great you feel that way. But that doesn't make the SEC leaps and bounds better than the BigXII. If you added Alabama to any conference, they would be the best conference in football. Now if we're talking revenue, SEC is the best conference, hands down. But if you took the two top teams out of the SEC and OU and UT out of the BigXII equation, I think the bowl games are exposing the BigXII might be better.

"But wait! Bowl games don't count nowadays!"

That's on the teams. If you recruit players that jump ship or enter the draft, that's part of the game. Even Covid issues are part of injuries nowadays. I'm still of the philosophy that the actual results of games, Scoreboard*, matter.

When you have 2 teams in the playoffs your number 3 plays the other conference champ and so on down the line. You may not follow college football closely enough to have known that.

Big 12 has the fewest players of the P5 conferences on NFL rosters. 197 fewer than the SEC. It is undeniably the worst conference.

So turns out, reality is that scoreboard is not 'all that matters'. If all you do to analyze opponents is to look at box score results, then you're only scratching the surface and you will suck at predicting future scores.

Sure, the score is what matters in a single game result. But, there is so much more that goes into team analysis.

As Bama prepared for Cincy, I'm quite certain Saban did more than check out their final box scores.

And this year in the Big12 if you were to remove the top two teams, OSU and Baylor, you would have had OU playing ND and Iowa St playing Ole Miss, and maybe Kansas St or TT playing Oregon. Maybe that bowl record would change some. SEC teams also had dozens of players opt out of, relatively, meaningless games to prepare for the NFL. Those missing players had a direct effect on team performance. How well would Baylor, OSU or OU or TT have done if their top 12 players were not playing.

Yes, we haven't done well in the playoffs due to Alabama's dominance. But they've dominated SEC conference play as well. Not many teams can beat them unless they play a perfect game.

Actually 4 different SEC teams have won the national championship the last 15 years.

So what you're saying is your garbage conference DOESN'T have scoreboard* in the playoff*

This thread did not age well.

I don't know. We all knew Alabama and Georgia were the two top teams. 27-6 isn't that lopsided, especially when one of those teams is not a power 5 conference school. When you analyze the whole conference, SEC is now 3-5 in the bowl season. SEC is now a whopping 1-3 against non-power 5 conference schools this bowl season.

Big12 logic.

A&M>Bama>Everyone

Scoreboard!!
