False. Athletes are not brainwashed morons. They know what players are better than they are. They know that walking onto the field. Yes, they believe in themselves too. But belief in yourself doesn't mean you're ignorant of reality.

Players absolutely know who is better and yes they fear them on some level. This is why they "get up" for some games more than others.

It's not hatred. It's not out of respect for their opposition. It's about overcoming fear.

ISU would be unranked preseason if they were in the SEC west. There wouldn't be any sort of expectations for that team finishing above .500 in a decent division of college football.
