Is it a requirement for new sip coaches to talk about the non-rival occupying some tiny sliver of East Texas?
You'd think they'd focus more on catching up to arch-rival OU and mighty Iowa State.
Crazy how since at least 2015, Texas has been the 'most talented' team in the Big 12 every single season, while TCU, Baylor, WVU, ISU, TTU, KSU, KU have all consistently been below schools like Kentucky, Miss State, and Vanderbilt in the talent composite. Yet the sips have no Big 12 titles and only 1 title game appearance to show for it.

Sarkisian is Texas' fourth coach since Mack Brown resigned in 2013. The Longhorns have the history, tradition and resources to be among the sport's elite, but have struggled to return to that spot. Tom Herman went 32-18 in four seasons and was fired after going 7-3 this season with losses to Oklahoma, TCU and Iowa State.
And while he's a California native whose Texas experience consists mainly of playing in a Cotton Bowl as a BYU player, he said he got the message pretty quickly.
"I know not to go thumbs up and it's Hook 'Em," Sarkisian said, in reference to Texas A&M's "Gig 'Em" sign. "I know that much, so let's start with that. And I know it's Texas first before the other schools, so those two things jumped out at me today."
