(And 6th in 7 years)? Probably. Seriously, with such a garbage OOC schedule and playing in the dump fire conference, how is this level of suck even possible?

It all started when some poor schmuck looked at the most godforsaken part of Texas and decided to put up dwellings.

Things have spiraled downward from there. Predictably.

It started when some kid cried to his daddy at ESPN about the coach mistreating him and daddy got (as some on the football board call him) "Savior Leech" ran out of town.

So firing their former alumni head coach (who loved Lubbock and Texas Tech) who then gets an NFL Head coaching gig might have been a bad idea?

Who would have thunk it?

Nah, that's a couple of hours west of Lubbock.

Truth. Growing up in Lubbock was like going back to the Garden of Eden after we visited family in Monahans or Eastern NM. You keep thinking that it can't get any worse but all you have to do is drive another mile west to be proven wrong.

If COVID numbers don't go down in Lubbock the next week they might have a lockdown and football games cancelled

Kliff had 2 winning records in 6 years at tceh.

He had a 35-40 record overall and 19-35 in conference.

The problems in Lubbock began with Baylor hired Briles and TCU entered the BDF. Kids that would have gone to Lubbock now had options closer than going to Lubbock.

Actually, the perfect storm started for them in 2009. A&M was terrible and went to Lubbock and curb-stomped them. Then Leach starts fading down and they figure out a way to get rid of him to not pay him his bonuses. When he left, they hired Tuberville, a defensive coach who could never recruit the kids he needed to Lubbock and he had no defensive talent at all because Leach didn't care about that. Tubs was a terrible fit and he hated it there, so he bolted for Cincy. By then, the Big 12 falls apart and the rest is history.

Tubs was at a tceh recruiting dinner with assistant coaches and recruits. He got the Cincy call in the middle of dinner, stepped outside to take the call, and never returned!

Kliff is a good NFL coach because he doesn't have to worry about recruiting or boosters and has a DC to take care of the defense that he doesn't care about.

Change had to be made. Wells appears to be not the right answer.

Who does an onside kick in the third qtr immediately after taking the lead? Bowman is not the answer at QB either but they don't have much choice right now.

Remember when @ggy was leaving and it was good, because tceh and tu was going to forge into a better rivalry? How in the Yosemite Sam Hell do you have 5 straight losing seasons while playing in the dumpster fire conference? And 6 losing seasons in the past 7 years.

There is some environmental video out there that showed how when the wolves left Yellowstone it changed the whole ecosystem for the worse. Every animal suffered.

There is a college football lesson in there I think. Or maybe I am just rambling.

Tech is losing to UH in basketball right now, and this thread came to my mind. Some parallels between the two as they've slowly become high ranking programs in hoops. Based on what I've seen, most tech fans are happy just being competitve in basketball. Beard may get them to be a basketball destination if he's there a decade. That's about as good as it can get there.

I still don't get why the techies did not lobby HARD to become the sippy permanent "rivalry" weekend matchup.

Makes no sense...idiots
