If you're going for computer science, go to the school in Austin, the school in College Station, or the school in Houston. If you're getting an advanced degree, then consider UT-Dallas.

UTD is a better name than TBAT,better value than baylor/smu. The drawback is an extremely limited campus life.

For those haven't been keeping track, Texas State is as big as Tceh now. And will probably pass it over time.

If you aren't an Aggie, longhorn, or Owl you are fighting for scraps. A red raider has more advertising than a bobcat and a leg up.

You are no longer paying for an education when you go to university as an undergraduate student. You are paying for the name. There is no reason to go to a satellite school with the backlash against universities and massive student loan debt causing anger and resentment.

You are paying for the name on the building. There is zero reason to go to UT-Dallas as an undergrad if you have the ability to go to the schools that matter. They are, in alphabetical order:

Baylor
Rice
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
University of Texas

If you go anywhere else you are handicapping yourself in the job market. No one gives a **** about US news and world report rankings except people talking **** on forums like this one.

"But dark helmut, you ******, SMU has a great business school".

Agreed. Go there for an MBA. That's when it starts mattering. If you don't have an advanced degree, there's no point caring about the quality of education you receive.

"But, dark helmut, you listed Rice".

Best alumni network in Texas for certain types of people and people know what Rice is all over.

My son is a senior and is a STEM track and we are looking at UTD. It's a heck of a school.

Daughter graduated Lee HS in Midland in 2012 @ #5 in class.
She was in the running for a McDermott(sp?) scholarship.
Missed out on that, but UT-D offered her a full ride, everything paid 4 years.
Graduated UTD Fall 2015 debt free.
She was the only kid on campus wearing maroon and looking for a TV to watch Aggie football on.

UT Arlington is bigger than Texas State and UNT is bigger than Tech.

Also, UNT is breaking ground or already has on their new Dallas campus.

UTD is a great school. I actually wanted to get my MBA there because of their speciality in operations and IT, but they did not offer a professional program at the time. Went to SMU instead and while I obviously don't regret that I sure as hell paid more for it!
