So what other criteria/limitations are there?

1. Is there an age limit to apply?
2. Must you be a recent high school graduate?
3. Must you be a dependent under your parents?

Would a 25 yr old with no degree but out on his own get approved? Is that considered a "household?"

Tuition and fees.

A lot of the cost of attendance is room and board which is not free.

Still, it's a generous program.

Can't stand that school in Austin but this is good bull.

Very happy to see this and hope it spurs A&M to do something even better!

According to the Dallas Morning News A&M has had a similar program since 2011.

Is Defecation Removal included in the general fees or is a separate line item? No telling how much that's gonna run.

You can pitch a tent on the sidewalk in Austin now, I'm going to start saving up for a nice tent for the kids.

Excellent point that I hadn't considered. This program is looking better all the time.

I don't know what percentage that endowment is going to make each year, but I suspect it won't be enough to make that money go very far.

tu's endowment is $26.54 Billion. At just a 5% rate of return, that's $1.327 Billion.

Can someone clarify why I'm required to fork up something like $500 a semester for a program called "Set Asides"? As I understand it, every student/parent who does not fall in the lower income bracket pays this fee to help foot the bill for financial aid students as mandated by our state legislature. So why are we paying hard earned money if there are endowments set up?

They ain't puttin the entire endowment return into free tuition. I just noticed the tweet a few posts up which shows 8 mil a year from the tagged amount.
