Longhorns baseball falls to Kansas to stay in last place in Big 12

After falling to the bottom of the Big 12 standings Friday night, the Longhorns baseball team lost to the Kansas Jayhawks 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Lawrence.

Ryan Cyr (3-6) won the pitchers' duel with Blair Henley on Saturday, throwing a shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out six in a game that lasted only 1 hour, 47 minutes. Henley's eight-inning gem, in which he gave up one run on six hits, went to waste.

Henley dropped to 6-3 despite pitching the Longhorns' first complete game of the season.

The loss is the 11th out of the last 14 games for Texas. They fell to 6-13 in the Big 12 while the Jayhawks leaped ahead in the standings at 7-10. The series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Longhorns have just one more Big 12 series before the conference tournament. They will take on the Oklahoma Sooners beginning Thursday, May 16. Kansas has two more Big 12 series remaining, against TCU and Kansas State. If Texas stays at the bottom of the standings, it will miss the conference tournament.

Brett Vosik singled in Rudy Karre who had singled and moved up on a bunt in the first inning, and that's all Kansas needed.

Eric Kennedy had the only hits for Texas as he went 2-for-4.

what are we in all of our SEC games? And how good are the teams we've played.

If we get swept by Bama this coming weekend, then you may have a point. But as of now, the schedule is apples to oranges.

And lost to ranked teams. The Ags did not get swept by the perennial baseball doormat of the BDF. In other words, Kansas was sippies last real hope to salvage a promising season that has gone very bad. Now they need help just to make the BDF tournament.

Kansas' sweep of Texas is the first sweep of a Big 12 opponent since the Jayhawks swept West Virginia (May 9-11) in 2014. (That's 5 years between sweeps)

Wait, they still play a tournament? How does everyone not get in? Don't they only have like 8 teams playing baseball?
