For the year ending Aug. 31, tapping the rich deposits of oil and natural gas generated $1.1 billion in royalty payments and other mineral revenue for the Permanent University Fund, one of the endowment accounts managed by the University of Texas/Texas A&M Management Co., known as UTIMCO. Annual payouts from the permanent fund benefit all of the UT System's campuses as well as six universities and six agencies in the A&M System. UT-Austin's allocation for the current budget year from that fund totaled $399 million; A&M-College Station received $119 million.
