It hurt the Big 12 to lose 4 AAU schools in Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri and A&M, TCU is good, but not a big research school. WVU, well.........

If fsu is ahead of VTech, I'd say these rankings are closer to trash than perfect.

Not if you know how crappy their evaluatory criteria are. Their list is almost worthless.

You left out Notre Dame which is at least mostly in the ACC.

If you want a rankings which values A&M more then go with:
https://washingtonmonthly.com/2018college-guide?ranking=2018-rankings-national-universities

Quote:

Welcome to the Washington Monthly's annual College Guide and Rankings, where we rate schools based on what they are doing for the country. It's our answer to U.S News & World Report, which relies on crude and easily manipulated measures of wealth, exclusivity, and prestige to evaluate schools.

We rank 4-year schools (national universities, liberal arts colleges, baccalaureate colleges, and master's universities) based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories. Those categories are: Social Mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), Research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs), and Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).

A&M is 11th and tu 75th.

What the horns like to forget is they were talking about leaving the B12 before we did.

What they also like to forget is that academics was one of their main talking points as a reason to leave the B12.

Kinda funny how that came full circle.

I've been saying for years that USNWR rankings are based on inputs while WM rankings are based on outputs, and that is why WM is inherently better than USNWR.

USN puts a large portion of their ranking on teacher pay. Another large part is how they are thought of by other schools' faculty.

Naturally, faculty thinks faculty pay would be important.

We could probably buy our way up, but that would be really stupid.
