Tech is on the verge of being unranked. West Texas A&M is going to pass them.

Seems like we've not made a lot of ground towards "Vision 2020"

Edit: Never mind. We're actually right on the cusp for public schools. This is total, inclusive of all.

Gotta look at each individual student's rankings. Anyone can just load up a bunch of 4 stars.

Vision 2020 didn't survive after Gates left. Sharp doesn't give a rat's ass about it, just wants to churn out as many diplomas as possible.

We were in the top 50 of this ranking system and above t.u. as recently as 1997.

Did a comparison of sat scores and Rice blows UT and A&M away. As usual

But their coach is not in the top hundred salary wise

UT Dallas is still vastly underrated and will be top 100 in 10 years.

Never have understood these rankings. Is it just by average SAT scores?

Seems like almost every other metric, (average salary, job placement, network, research contributions, campus environment, campus safety, majors available) we we would be right up there.

There are more CEOs of fortune 500 companies from A&M than any other school, including the Ivy league schools.

SMU has the Dedman College. Which is a better law school than A&M's, just a fact. That boosts them a bit. It's T1 and at least top 50 for law schools.

A&M law I think is just barely top 100?

Well, I am sure that the Mountain West schools have upgraded their entrance requirements above tt's spelling the applicants name correctly and coloring within the lines with the maximum of three colors.

I thought this was for undergraduate rankings.
I thought I that U.S. News had separate rankings for graduate school and professional schools (law, med school, etc.).

A&M Law is a joke. Huge mistake to buy that school.

My son just started (transfer) at UT-Dallas.

that is a really good school. I've had many tech employees over the years go their for grad school and it was good for that in engineering. But it's a good all around school now.

they have built a ton of on campus housing and dining options and are not just a commuter school anymore.

they also have tons of new buildings and upgrades the place looks great - almost unrecognizable compared to 20 years ago.

So far his experience has been nothing short of awesome - advising, admissions, professors, etc.

Tied with - Bama, Mizzou, Kansas, Nebraska at #129 in National and #61 in Public schools.

Vision 2020 was essentially meaningless after Bowen stepped down from being president. It was paid lip service afterwards and seems to have been largely forgotten.

We were closing in on top 50 when I started undergrad at A&M, and then took a big hit when the rankings began factoring class size and another hit when they began factoring acceptance rates (which they've now dropped).

I don't get the hate for the law school. In the short time since A&M bought it and began making improvements the rankings have climbed very quickly and look like they will continue to do so.

Just out of curiosity regarding the law school - are you a lawyer?

Uh pretty sure they have already significantly improved the rating of the school and it continues to improve. Why was it such a mistake if it can be improved upon and made into a respectable school?
