I saw Raulerson standing on the sideline in the Arkie/A&M game. He definitely made a step up from having to stay at texas. Don't know if he played or not.

He was a grad transfer last year, started for them against us. He's still terrible.

Per the box score, he did play in the game.

So if you were a fish in the fall of 1970, you must have thought football was going to be fun too. After all we scored over 40, count 'em 40 points in a win over Wichita State and then beat LSU.......then November came early.....had to wait 'til year for out next win.

I'll razz the sippos about a lot of things ( the plethora of fake dicks on their campus , urine color and coaches slipping players the tongue) but I'm not giving them any grief about their football coach getting little production from recruiting classes, for obvious reasons.

From the 2016 Class Texas had some misses, but they also had some hits.

Shane Buschele
Collin Johnson
Brandon Jones
Jeffery McCullouch
Malcolm Roach
Devin Duverney
Reggie Hemphill-Mapps
Zach Shackleford

Other contributors

Gerald Wilborn
JP Uriquez
Tope Imade
Denziel Oakfor
Patrick Hudson (lost to ACL)

So out of 28 commitments Texas has 8 starters, 5 other contributors and 6 guys that have left the team. And we are talking about a class that are true sophomores.

Just because they're starters doesn't mean they're good.

Buchele, Johnson, and Mapps have showed out, and are good players.

Shackleford straight up sucks, and that is from every texas fan I've talked to.

Roach is playing out of position at DE, and they have him backing up Omenihu, who sucks balls. Roach has 4 tackles on the year. I like him as a player, but his coaches are screwing him.

McCulloch is a backup outside linebacker, and has a total of 3 tackles on the season. Nothing special there.

Duvernay is good, he just isn't put into a position to succeed a lot with their QB issues.

Brandon Jones starts at safety, and is third on the team in tackles, but he has no pass breakups, no interceptions, no forced fumbles, sacks, or anything resembling a big play. I have yet to see him make a play. He has a lot of tackles, but that just means he cleans up when everyone else around him doesn't make a play.

As for the 'other contributors', Gerald Wilbon is a backup to Poona Ford, and has 3 assists and one solo tackle. That means he's made one play in three games, and jumped on the pile three times.

JP Urquidez is a backup left tackle who has shown nothing.

Tope Imade switched from offensive line to defensive line and back to offensive line. He is not listed on the depth chart, and has not appeared in a game this season. How is he a contributor?

Denzel Okafor is the starting right tackle. He hasn't shown anything yet, but he is at least on the depth chart.

Patrick Hudson redshirted last year, and was a backup before being lost for the season with an injury.

In that class, you have 3 good players, and 2 guys (Roach, Duvernay) who have shown flashes of being good.

Everyone else is a question mark.

You're either way too charitable in your grades for their players, or you don't actually watch them play.

Some mega-spin from tsip reporter Mike Craven of the AAS today:
Quote:

News of another defensive lineman transferring from Texas holds a silver lining for a program building toward the future instead of next week. Redshirt freshman Chris Daniels joined Jordan Elliott and Marcel Southall as defensive line transfers from the Longhorns' 2016 class.

The loss of bodies might concern Texas fans. It probably doesn't make the coaching staff blink an eye. Another player out of the program one who likely didn't fit into the future of Texas means Tom Herman and his staff can focus another 2018 scholarship on a defensive lineman.
Silver lining? Is he on meth? Rotflmao.

Yeah, that's the ticket, sips. Convince yourselves that you'll be better on defense in 2017, 2018, and 2019 by bringing in 3-star 18-yr-old DL's in the sip 2018 recruiting class to replace the 19 and 20 yr old DT's who are bailing out of Tom Herman's sinking ship as fast as they can.

They are assuming that they will be able to recruit top talent. Might be a huge mistake right there.

Sips are also forgetting this is the 4th yr in the sip program for Poona and Nelson. Nelson is mediocre, but at least he has one more yr of eligibility. Poona is playing pretty well this season, but he is done after 2017. There isn't much of anything behind them on the depth chart. Meanwhile some sips on the shag are saying they think Christmas-Giles will be the next DT to leave.

Old Ags are very familiar with the 3-4 defense that Herman is running. Especially in regards to the demands it puts on defensive linemen in a 3-4. If the interior defensive tackle can be handled by one blocker, teams will run on them all day.

Lol,

The Texas two deep is looking pretty good over the next 2 years. Sucks to lose Daniels because he is a guy the coaches wanted to keep same with Jordan Elliott. But if neither is willing to wait their turn then so be it. Nelson is a candidate to move into the middle next year to replace Poona and Wilborn has earned the 2nd team status. Same as Chisholm. The guy to watch is Taquon Graham, he is a beast and the next great Texas Dlinemen. We still have Brecklin Hagar who will likely move back to DE next year as it is his more natural position.

As for Andrew Fitzgerald, he is an unknown because he has had the same recurring injury for the last two years. Remember how Jordan Shipley was an unknown because he was always injured his first two years, how did that turn out.

Oh, and Texas also has the committed the #1 DT in the state and is in on two of the top DE in the country. Of course if that doesn't work out Texas can always take Max Wright if they want him.

What an amazing array of DT talent. The NFL must be salivating.

That's the guy "to watch", eh? If he is so great, why isn't he starting? What is it about him that makes his future greatness a certainty for you? His ability to beat Terrell Cuney and Garrett Thomas in practice? Better hope he enjoys being double-teamed on every snap playing in the 3-4 defense.
Quote:

Oh, we've all seen Breck play. Just a total, total stud with a perfect frame for playing as a 3-4 DE, lol. Named after a very popular shampoo in the 70's, too.

I actually like this kid. I think he'll be a good 3-4 interior lineman by 2019 or 2020. About the same time Tom Herman gets fired.

You do realize that Zach Shackleford is on the remington watch list, and outside of having trouble with hearing the QB signal the snap he has has graded out as our second best linemen and done pretty well overall. Right now he is our best linemen now that Williams is out.

Okafor, Hudson and Urquidez are guys that well in limited snaps and guys the coaches feel they trust in the game. Herman made the comment that as of right now we have 6 offensive linemen not injured he trusts.

When you are second team at Texas you play just as much as the starters, especially on defense. Wilborn McCullough and some of the other second teamers are playing a lot of snaps and doing well. Wilborn will never show up much in the stat column because his number one job is clog the middle, something he does very well.

As for the Texas DE, none of them suck they are all playing damn well, we are deep as **** at that position. I'm really looking forward to Ta'quon Graham that dude is a huge demon off the edge.

Our defense is so deep with talent that is playing well, it's got us extremely excited for the future, we just need to keep Todd Orlando happy.
