Here is a (sounds like well-deserved) hit piece by Chip Brown on the Texas women's athletic director and how she has effected the rest of their athletic dept.: Link
Quote:
Her job as head of marketing is to oversee UT's relationship with marketing partner IMG, which sells sponsorships in connection with UT athletics.
It is with Plonsky's approval that many of those sponsorships have turned into roughly $8 million worth of advertising during Texas football games on the video board inside Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on football Saturdays.
That is also something Herman is trying to change in an attempt to create a better atmosphere during games.
"It doesn't do you any good to have 100,000 in the stadium if it doesn't sound like 100,000," Herman told AM 1300 The Zone (KVET-AM) in Austin. "We want to have the best game-day atmosphere in the country - the most raucous, the most feared."
Many fans feel the amount of advertising on the video board and the use of sideline hosts to talk about various sponsorships brings the mood and sound inside the stadium to a halt.
"Chris (Plonsky) has always been more concerned about the 1 percent - those with the most dollars - than the 99 percent, the bulk of the Texas fan base," one current member of the athletic department told HD.
Several UT season ticket-holders told HD they go to games to get away from the ads they see on TV - not continue to be bombarded by them at the expense of a home-field advantage.
"I'm sure some of that will change with Coach Herman coming in," Plonsky told HD about the football game-day atmosphere after Herman's introductory news conference.
Multiple sources said Herman has been going to meetings involving game-day atmosphere, pushing for his graphics design team of Tommy Lakes and Matt Lange to have control of the video board during games

Best job in college football. Where else would the head coach get the privilege of hiring a graphic design team to debate video board advertising?BohunkAg said:
Man, this is a Tommy Herman hit piece the more you read it. Herman is trying to get rid of her.Quote:

DKR has been one of the most laid-back atmospheres in college football forever - before video scoreboards and before 5-7 seasons were even thought of.Quote:

But truth be told, if Herman wants a raucous crowd then putting a good product on the field is step one
Do any of you actually believe he did anything more than "tweeting" at her?Quote:
McNamara quit less than a year after being hired, returning to coach at Yale. McNamara did not respond to attempts via social media for comment.

So ol' Chipper is carrying T Tommie's water bottle now? T Tommie is thinks that the Adzillatron is causing the laid back atmosphere at DKR, Ha! Maybe he should just have the fanbase stay off weed for at least 48 hours before game time.

Byrne was NOT a micro manager. No comparison to Plonsky!
