the tough thing for Spike...he only beat both A&M and t.u. in the same season twice: 1989 and 1997.

but in both of those years, Tech had some bad losses to sub .500 teams that prevented those seasons from being 10-win and/or championship-level

You try to recruit to Lubbock in the 1980s. Hell, Spike was a damned good coach.

he could recruit will enough to beat some very talented A&M teams, but had trouble taking those same players and beating lesser teams. That was the frustration of many Red Raider fans
