This article is pretty damning - of everyone.

But myriad court cases suggest that as the boats of Baylor rose, to use Mr. Starr's analogy, standards fell overboard. Baylor and its football program, it seemed, began to value on-field talent above all else.

Everyone has "standards "

"No other college or university has, at its own initiative, undergone such a thorough self-examination," it said. "No other college or university has made such wholesale leadership changes based on that self-examination. No other college or university has eagerly embraced an ambitious slate of 105 recommended changes. And, despite the accusations of some, no other university has been as transparent about its failings."

But some critics say that the university should not be so quick to flatter itself pointing out that, among other things, it was slow to make a clean break from the Briles era. Although it hired an acting football coach last year, it retained nearly all of Mr. Briles's staff, including his son and son-in-law. These Briles loyalists made known their continued allegiance to those accused of presiding over a football culture in which sexual violence seemed to thrive.
It's a lot of old news, but with as much distraction the nation has had, I'm glad it's being retold again and again. Hopefully a few more people will see this and actually be outraged by something that is truly horrific. This quote, for example, is typical Baylor. They laud themselves so frequently you'd almost forget they had anything to do with it. At least the writer countered this ridiculous quote quickly ... although not as forcefully as I would have liked.

These asshats do realize that we know the pepper Hamilton report was given verbally specifically so there wouldn't be a report to share, right? How about they start their their transparency by releasing that report.

Death penalty.

Amazing to ponder, but recruits (and their parents) are still interested in their sons going there.

What TF are they smoking to believe that crock of sh--t? They allowed any dead beat ass thug that they deemed a ball player to transfer in - regardless of his history - and completely ignored the pleas of girls that begged for help.

They. Covered. Up. Rapes. To. Win. (Period)

And getting caught ain't the same as "being transparent."

But Ms. Hernandez said that the Baptist university in Waco simply was not ethical when dealing with allegations of sexual assaults by its revered football players or, for that matter, when dealing with the traumatized victims of those sexual assaults. As new revelations have come out, she said, she has been "shocked" yet, at the same time, "not surprised."

College rape makes a good story. Football college rape by big, mean looking black guys makes an even better story. There is plenty of rape at other schools, but it's been decided that Baylor will carry the singular burden for the crime of college rape. Nothing for us to do but take it now. The story won't change for many years.

More than 18 percent of female undergraduates at the University of Texas at Austin and about 15 percent at Texas A&M say they have been sexually assaulted since arriving on campus, according to comprehensive surveys released Monday.

Those rates are too high, school officials say, but appear to be lower than the schools' peers. The numbers were compiled through surveys conducted at 27 schools that are members of the "tier one" Association of American Universities.

Did you know that Baylor reported ZERO rapes during that period?

What a stand up christian institution.

Waco is blessed to have a college that thinks about itself first.

This is what they stick their head in the sand over... while the rapes themselves are heinous crimes, the fact that they completely refused to acknowledge or deal with them is the far greater crime.

They reported zero rapes, had no title ix office, dismissed girls from classes after they accused football players, had a head coach texting admin about how to keep it out of the press, and admitted guys with previous domestic issues... the death penalty is too good for that sh--t stain.

There goes the NY Times, reporting more fake news. Do they fact check anything? This is blatantly bad reporting and just completely undermines their credibility as a news source.

No legitimate journalist would ever refer to the BDF as highly competitive.

pretty much says it all, zero reports of any wrongs towards the young ladies.

Think it was the briles text message release,...where he sent one to starr saying something like "keep riding that white horse",...

briles ~ keep my players in school, my rapists that play football.

How in the world can these butt munchers up at baylro defend these criminals ?

So there are AT LEAST 2 girls who had their scholarships yanked AFTER reporting getting raped. The Hernandez girl in the article here and the soccer player.

How do they not get the death penalty again?

I think a big problem at Baylor, and other religious institutions, is their zero tolerance policy towards their student code of conduct. I remember some similar (although maybe not as wide spread) problems at BYU in the late 90s. Basically, when a girl would say they were a party with alcohol, the girl would get kicked out of school and the school would never even get into the whole rape part. I see a lot people, especially Baylor fans, say this stuff happens at every school, but I don't think it does. The schools code of conduct at Baylor really encourages victims to not come forward because they will be punished for any activities they were involved in. That doesn't happen at public schools.

So the *******s are still unwilling to see the rape, intimidation, and cover up that happened, yet equate being forced to acknowledge the truth to rape.

I don't doubt that many Baylor supporters feel this explains how Baylor is just being punished for a 'higher standard'.

But, what happened at Baylor was not merely a strict application of a code of conduct. If it were, the boys would be disciplined and expelled as well.

This probably is an issue to some degree, but there have been 50+ reported sexual assaults by baylor football players on coeds. In a large amount of these cases, the victims reported the crime to the school Title IX office and NOTHING was done.
