Good hire, he has earned the opportunity for a HC job, whether he is successful or not is another thing. He certainly has good recruiting ties around Texas so that should have pay some dividends.
sorry you had to settle for a coach with zero head coaching experience. I thought uh was a better job than this and should have attracted more viable candidates. at least uh will not be a stepping stone again with this hire.
two words of wisdom:
1. please buy him a bra so his manboobs don't slap him in the face when he walks; this can be very distracting
2. keep your student trainers locked up- or at least provide security for them when he is around. if his wife gets pregnant again, you guys should be on alert for another major run on the student trainers- especially the chubby ones...

I remember lots of chubby Mexican trim waddling about campus when I was in law school at UH. The Major should clean up while he's there.

Briles had been a successful high school coach and experience as an Asst elsewhere, Sumlin had a ton of experience as an assistant at several P5 universities, same with da grill. Levine was a desperation move.
