This Brock Osweiler contract is insane. He couldn't beat out a broken down Peyton Manning but he's worth $16 million a year with $30 million guaranteed.

Peyton couldn't scramble, had no arm strength and was nearly 40, but what the hell, his back up must be awesome.

You would have better spent your $30 million guaranteed buying lottery tickets when the powerball is above $300 million. That would be a much better investment of their money

It's a lot of money, but it's the price you pay for a starting QB with experience. Denver was offering him $16MM/yr. Houston is giving him $18MM/yr.

You can thank the Eagles and Sam Bradford, and Matt Flynn:

That would require the Texans to take Manziel in the first round.

Peyton isn't a good point of argument. He just won a Super Bowl. I think the contract is rediculous, but your Peyton comparison isn't all that damning.

Good Move, Texans!

Seems like Denver was close enough on the money to stay there IMO. He may regret the decision to go to Houston in the end.

I would suggest that osweiler is the best QB the Texans have ever had.

Kubiak was the best QB they ever had, he was just too old to play.

Ossweiler was the closest thing to Matt Shaub that coach buttchin could find. Texans can't seem to fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

Great move by the Texans. He was the best option available at by far the most critical position. Now they should
draft a QB in the first three rounds to train. If you don't understand the importance of the QB in today's game, you don't know scheiss about football.

Living in Lubbock must have damaged the OP's brain. Management doesn't have to be as dumb as Cleveland.

Sadly, this is the going rate for a mediocre qb in the NFL right now, and the draft prospects are even worse.

to make me feel like my Cowboys aren't that bad after all.

It's being lauded by virtually everyone as a solid move. He was the best QB available via free agency or draft given the team's drafting position. Only bitter obsessed Cowboys fans are butthurt about not being in the spotlight for a day.

Also, pulling in Miller as well was a brilliant stroke. Of course, there are no guarantees either will work out, but they went out and made the best moves they could make to rebuild this offence. And, the thing is, with the second best defence in the NFL the offence doesn't even have to be great, it just has to be respectable, something the Broncos just proved to the world.

This also puts them in much better position in the draft.

Osweiler got beat out by a guy that looked like he was throwing left handed at times. This could be a case of a bad qb looking ok on a really good surrounding cast.

Who also happens to be a future first ballot hall of famer and one of the top 5 QBs of all time...

...lets not pretend there weren't a long list of reasons outside of play on the field at that moment that went into Kubes going with Peyton.

This is all true. I just don't see how he's going to do any better in Houston. There's much more downside. The Texans defense was pretty good, but there's a wide gap between them and Denver.

Actually they were closer once Hoyerable stopped putting the team in such horrid field position.

Osweiler actually has upside. This was a smart move. It might fail. But, it was still the smart move.

For the Texans organization, they did good grabbing a QB they think might be a franchise QB, however for SOME fans it is a catch 22, they pick Brock up he is no good, they pick up a rookie, he is no good. There are simply SOME fans that if you are not drafting Luck, Brady, Rodgers, etc., they all suck and the Texans made a bad move.

Osweiler finished 29th out of 30th for pass efficiency this year in the NFL (only 30 bc of minimum number of attempts).

Guess what, he's not getting better.

QB rating was 72.2. Second lowest for a consistently starting NFL QB in the last 5 years.

The defense is good enough to get to the Super Bowl.

The QB position, now including Osweiler, is holding the team back.

What needs to happen in that Bob McNair/ Rick Smith need to own up to the fact that Osweiler is terrible and just draft DeSean Watson this year.

I don't see that happening though. Very frustrating.
