Good point here.

The focus of A&M has clearly turned from the ex-rival in Austin. The lawsuit against the saw'em off logo diminishes in importance because Aggies don't care to wear iconic symbols of the past. We fed their egos for decades because beating them was paramount for a successful season.
The LSU baseball series highlights the rise of a new rivalry with national exposure, lawsuits, recruiting wars, coaching changes and crawfish boils. Gig'em

Yes, a school that's a quarter Asian and regularly holds protests on campus really reflects the pulse of the Texas culture.

For fans, the game is just a small part of the total experience. The look and feel of the stadium are important to fan experience...as is the food, the look of the bathrooms, the length of lines, the scoreboard, the parking, etc. In fact, what goes on in the field of play is just part of the side show that for many people begins with travel to town, tailgating, planning for the event, then being a Monday morning quarterback. While Sharp is a crass, self-promoter, the folks at A&M understand that the 10-12 minutes that play is going on during the actual game has to be supplemented by a lot of fluff to make the entire event a truly memorable experience.
Actually, this is the most articulate representation of how Aggies have found ways to deal with being losers on the field that I've ever seen.
It's not the actual game, it's the traditions.
It's not the actual game, it's the loudness of the Aggies.
It's not the actual game, it's winning half time!
It's not the actual game, it's the new stadium.
It's not the actual game, it's the conference you're associated with!!!! SEC, baby!!! We've arrived!
It's not the actual game, but even if it was, we've never "lost;" we've only been "out scored."
Who else but a loser comes up with so many euphemisms and attempted distractions from the reality of losing?
An historical trait of Texans is that they look hard at a cold fact and face it. Longhorns spit out defeat like poison and go all out to eradicate it. Aggies embrace defeat as a test of their character.
Not that there was ever much doubt, but which university better represents the state?
With their conformity, hostility to strangers, lack of self-awareness and overall humorlessness, Texas A&M is about the least Texan place in the whole state.

Love the whole living in Austin v College Station bs. So these kids tu brings in have money right? Money to get in their boats at the lake on weekends? Money to buy the SXSW wristbands? Money to hit all the nice restaurants downtown? Pay for $10 drinks on 6th street or the always cheap bottle service? Get to live in the new fancy downtown high rise condos? Didn't think so. Austin works if you have a good job and money. The players are looking to get their drink on, burn some tree, and chase tail.
quote:Yes, we are not happy with our year last year. Significant loss of offensives talent including a Heisman winning QB and 3 1st round draft picks kinda hurt. Plus the youth movement on D as we try to build the depth we need. Plus, our DC wasn't cutting it. So we got one of the best. So, O was generally good (see Allen's games, not 59-0 with a QB that isn't on the roster anymore) but gets better with experience. D looks to see significant improvement with continued experience and improved coaching.
Honestly, are the Aggies so much better than the Horns right now? One more win in the win column doesn't speak that much in volumes. Is it because 6-6 for UT is unusual and 7-5 is an improvement for A&M?
