Thinking of relocating to the coast. Likely a bay house.

How bad is hurricane insurance?

Depends on the area, but we just wrote a Texags poster in Aransas Pass. Dwelling was $265,000 and premium was $1,700 (home with wind included). TWIA is NOT the way to go on the water.

So cheaper than Harris County.

If you're in a flood zone expect that to be pretty expensive on the coast. The home insurance will obviously vary depending on the house but you're best bet would be getting a policy that covers both the hazard and wind portion.

Seldom.

Particularly galveston Island.

Flood insurance can be bad now. Need vents in garage
