I'm interested in purchasing an undeveloped lake lot anywhere from 1-3 acres. The idea is to hold onto the property until we're ready to build a lake house or cabin.

What's the best way to research/look for this kind of property?

Awesome thread idea

I am a lake nut. I have 1.5 acres Of waterfront for my forever home. But if I were to move...I'd be headed straight to northern Georgia lakes!


So where are you and where are you wanting to be? Is this for boating or view or cruising your pontoon?

Something within 150-175 miles from North Dallas in any direction. Not interested in lakes that are constantly murky or have issues drying out (I'm sure that's hard to find in Texas).

Constant level lake that looks clean with undeveloped 1-3 acre lot facing east within 3 hours of Dallas.

Lake Athens is a fantastic lake. It has great fishing, good water clarity for tx, and it is fairly close to DFW.


Googling pictures of the place does not do it justice. Very nice place

I forgot to add this to my first post. This is a pretty comprehensive site for lakes that have houses...it is a paysite to advertise listings so very few houses are listed, but most lakes worth knowing are there.

I don't have a unicorn but I do have about 3/4 acre on a spring fed lake facing east about 100 miles east of Dallas. Not for sale, though.

I like like Athens also. I have a rental property there have been looking for something on or near the water but it's expensive.
