As a homeowner, are you entitled to see the appraisal used for tax assessment? To my knowledge, no appraisal was done, but in a down/low market the assessed value of my home just doubled.

Needless to say I'm super excited for my tax bill this year

Ok, then what state? Might want to read their property tax laws.

Most, if not all, states use Mass Appraisal. They would never have the time or manpower to complete individual appraisals on each piece of real estate in each county, so there would be no appraisal to review.

Thanks for the advice. I'm talking to a realtor to try to pull low comps from 6 months ago (BNSF just laid off a ton of people roughly 2 months ago, and they flooded the market and marked their houses up to get a better deal from the relo company in a year)

I found the stuff online to appeal, but I'm deciding whether or not I want to first do an informal review and appraisal, or if I just want to go ahead and appeal to the County Tax Appeal Board.
