You'd hope there's something solid behind that wood to help block sound from traveling from one room to the next, but from the way the door jambs and casing look I doubt it.

Also I'll never understand tile choices flippers make. If they'd spend 30 cents/sq ft more they'd have something that didn't look like they picked it up from the leftovers and clearance section at the nearest friendly big box store.

I've seen a lot of things in a lot of houses over the past eight years, but have not yet run into dual front doorknobs until now. And it's bugging me because I can't figure out the rationale behind it.

Serious question for the agents who post here:

Listings like the ones below fascinate me - 5500-7000 sq ft for $50-$70/sq ft, not luxuriously appointed or in an exclusive community by any means, and 30+ years old.

How do you market these homes? Who do you market them to? All that comes to my mind is a family like the Duggars.

I mean, the maintainance costs alone on a 6000-7000 said ft house must be crazy high. And what does a new A/C or roof cost on something like that? I have a hard time believing someone in the market for a $400k or less house could afford the routine repairs on a house this big.

Who is buying these things? I know there is a buyer out there for every house, but listings like these make me scratch my head.

Not an agent, and wow a couple of those were really bad, but think more multi-generational with these. My wife's Grandma lived with her aunt, Uncle and two cousins in a ~5,000 sq ft house in Maryland that was trimmed it a lot lower than any of the places that were linked.

They've also been having a hell of a time trying to sell it over the last year. Apparently there's not a lot of people interested in a 12 year old McMansion.

That was an awful 80's trend. Big for the sake of big. Bad floor plans, tons of wasted space, etc.

Probably Kickerillo homes. Those were prevalent in the parts of Katy he developed as well.

yea i dont even want to think about how terrible it would be painting and adding new flooring in that first one. ugh. Luckily my 3k sqft home only cost like 20 g's to do both, but only becuase we found a guy that did 80 percent of the painting for 900 bucks.

True... the only one I can think of where they didn't was that listing you posted with what looked like two storage sheds that were stacked on top of one another that had some kind of unpermitted/no electricity or plumbing note. But that looked like something straight out of Trailer Park Boys.

It looks dated and pretty run of the mill to me. I do like the sink in the laundry room, but the lawn looks overgrown and the window treatments look grungy.
