COLLEGE STATION Texas A&M announced its 2019 women's basketball non-conference schedule, a 13-game slate that includes seven games against Top-100 RPI teams from 2018-19, six games against Power-5 teams and eight home games.

"When you're one of the few teams that have won a national championship, you owe it the game to play the best non-conference schedule you can," said head coach Gary Blair. "We want it loaded up because the non-conference is what makes you better for your conference schedule."

"We got a variety of different teams on the schedule, including perennial contenders and regional rivals who have a great chance of making the NCAA Tournament this year," added Blair. "This schedule ties in great competition and travel for our team, with visits to play in the hometowns of several players and trips that will be educational for our team outside of basketball."

In addition to previously-announced games against Duke (Nov. 10), at Rice (Nov. 17) and Oklahoma State (Dec. 7), the Aggies face additional Power-5 opponents Southern California (Nov. 23, Los Angeles), Florida State (Dec. 1, Fort Worth), TCU (Dec. 11, College Station) and Georgia Tech (Dec. 20, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico).

After a Nov. 1 exhibition against Oklahoma City, the Aggies open their season Nov. 5, hosting Little Rock, in a matchup of coaches who rank fifth (Blair) and sixth (Little Rock's Joe Foley) on the active career wins list.

The Aggies face Central Arkansas for the seventh annual Elementary School Day on Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. One of the most highly-attended games of the season, the previous six editions have averaged 7,587 fans.

In addition, the Aggies host Prairie View (Nov. 27), Houston (Dec. 15) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Dec. 29). Texas A&M faces Montana State (Dec. 21) in a neutral site game to complete the Puerto Rico Coqui Classic.

Six teams on the Aggies' non-conference scheduleFlorida State, Houston, Little Rock, Prairie View, Rice and TCUreached the 2019 postseason.

The game against Southern California represents a return to the Galen Center for Chennedy Carter, where she scored a school-record 46 pointsand a game-winneron Dec. 15, 2017.

Texas A&M participates in the Maggie Dixon Classic for the fourth time since 2010, playing Florida State, who is ranked No. 11 in ESPN's Way-Too-Early Top 25, in Fort Worth. The highly-anticipated clash between the Seminoles and Aggies is slated to be a doubleheader with a matchup between TCU and Boise State.

The women's basketball program makes its first trip to Puerto Rico Dec. 20-21 for the Puerto Rico Coqui Classic, facing Georgia Tech and Montana State. Yellow Jackets' first-year head coach Nell Fortner was an assistant coach to Blair at Stephen F. Austin for four seasons (1986-90), and recently was a popular analyst for SEC Network.

Coming off of back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances, Texas A&M has been as high as No. 4 nationally in early preseason rankings. The Aggies are the only team to reach last season's Sweet 16 to return every starter, with 94-percent of the team's points, and four double-figure scorers, coming back to Aggieland.

Glad it's out but I was hoping for some stronger tests in the pre-SEC schedule, esp. at Reed.

I believe the only ones who made the NCAAs last season were 12 seed UALR, 12 seed Rice, and 5 seed Florida State. Florida State could be like Oregon State last year in terms of being the key quality opponent. They bring back most of their team from last season but that was from a team that finished 6th in the ACC. That game is part of the Maggie Dixon classic.

Georgia Tech's new coach is Nell Fortner.

I'll be honest: want the team to gel so I don't mind the schedule. They need to come together as a team that is well-coached and owning their identity. Which means the ball will go through Chennedy well over half the time unless the rest of the team finds a way to score without her helping. That allows the opposing defense to hard and soft double her and the rest of the team makes them pay.

This should be our best year in Chennedy's tenure. Let's shake the world, Ags!!

We have an E8 team that returns all 5 starters. We shouldn't need a weak schedule to gel.

The non conf schedule is way over rated. Yes, there are maybe 4 games we could lose if we don't show up,
are not focused or players missing due to discipline or injuries. I agree this should be an E8 team or better,
Let;s face it, in WBB there are only around 25-30 decent to good teams, and perhaps 10-15 that can make it to an E8 any give year.
