for everyone else other than the Ags. I've mostly been using our Spring Break day to work in the yard and check out the men's results, but ESPN2 is covering first round women's games and I looked at the scores online.

All chalk so far. For the SEC, Auburn got crushed by NC State, scoring only 4 points in the second quarter and 8 in the third. Kentucky got a scare from Belmont, who had a shot to send the game to OT.

Vic benched 4 starters to open their game. Morgan William was the only regular to start.

Blair scored the first 11 points vs Troy. Bulldogs are up by >40 with less than a minute left, but Landers and Lobo in the studio wondering if something's going on that's an unwanted distraction for MSU.

Something is driving the team bus South, based on late season performance. Too bad for Vic.

Two close games:

Oregon State barely avoided getting upset by #15 Long Beach. Long Beach led by 1 very late but fouled Sidney Wiese. 2 FTs were the winning margin, but Beach had a couple of shots to win at the end.

Mizzou trailed S Florida Big at half, took the lead in the 4th and then gave up a 3 near the end. But Mizzou had enough time for Michaelis to get a putback with 0.6 seconds left for the win. S Florida had burned all their timeouts and couldn't advance the inbounds at the end.

At the end of day 1, some close calls, but the only "upset" was a 9 beating an 8: Purdue over Green Bay.

First upset of the tourney: 12 Quinnipiac hangs on to best 5 Marquette. Marquette just missed a buzzer beater that would have sent it to OT.

Stanford struggled with NM State, but asserting themselves late.

Second upset 10 Oregon knocks off 7 Temple in Durham. Really dramatic ending. Back and forth lead changes. Temple had a layup to win but it was deflected. Right before that, the Owls barely avoided a technical when a player tried to call a timeout they didn't have, but the refs let it go as the coach was screaming to inbound the ball.

Oregon was a team Creme thought should have been seeded higher.

4 Kentucky loses to 5 Ohio State in Lexington. To make it tougher on the Cats, UK transfer Linnea Harper was big in thwarting the Kentucky comeback attempt.

Agree. In addition to the 5th on Spencer, I disagree that that was a charge. Player established position by jumping forward into the path.

These refs are terrible in the SC vs AZ state game. It must be nice to have a home court advantage

This is a couple of days old, but found this on Vic and the lineup changes
Quote:

"The film don't lie," Schaefer said. "Sometimes you think you're running hard and you're really not I think all of our kids had a lesson in that today."
Vic stayed with the new lineup yesterday and afterward he had Lobo and Landers wondering if his daughter was suffering from reverse nepotism during the season. Blair had 21 on Friday and 18 on Sunday.

I love how Dillingham reflects how the team is taking the tough love:
Quote:

Dominique Dillingham, who had started 19 straight games before the NCAA Tournament and is now coming off the bench, said no one is questioning their coach's logic. Dillingham added 10 points and two steals on Sunday.

"He's not crazy," Dillingham said. "I think we have 10 starters. Anyone could start. We're really deep."

Only watched the 4th quarter, but what I saw will inflame the fire Holly crowd among LV fans.

Quinnapiac beat Miami by going 15 of 26 from the arc. UCLA will have to do even better against UConn to stay in it.
Are there 4 seeded teams out?

Looking at the box scores of the first and second round hosts, South Carolina had the most attendance, followed by Washington, Connecticut and Mississippi State. The lowest was Duke. UCLA was 14th. tu was 12th. baylor was 10th.
The NCAA charges too much for these games, which is not conducive to growing the sport.

Somebody posted all the numbers here. Interesting that Waco is down. For several of the teams I wonder how the men being in the tourney affected attendance.

There are stories that attendance at the regionals is really bad. And that's with UConn boosting the numbers. Bridgeport was sold out.
Quote:

The NCAA saw its lowest attendance for the regionals in 20 years, and there is no change to the format in sight.

An average of 4,719 fans showed up for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight games in the four neutral-site venues. That's down 27 percent from last year and nearly 50 percent from 2014, when the games were played on campus sites. In 1997, an average of 4,252 fans came to the regionals.

This year's numbers were bolstered by the Bridgeport Regional, which sold out both days UConn played there. No other site had a local team playing.
