The sixth-seeded Texas A&M women's basketball team lost to the second-seeded Mississippi State Bulldogs, 66-50, in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on Saturday night. Anriel Howard led the Aggies with 12 points and seven assists, while Danni Williams added 13 points in the loss. The loss drops A&M to 21-11 on the season.

The Aggies recorded just five assists all evening and lost the rebound battle 35-28 to the Bulldogs.

Despite the outcome, A&M point guard Curtyce Knox set the single-season SEC assists record and scored in double figures for the 15th time this year.

Halfway through the first quarter, the Bulldogs used an 8-2 run to open up an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Through the second, it was more of the same as Mississippi State eventually pushed their lead to 14, 34-20, at the halftime break.

In the second half, the Bulldogs pushed their lead to as many as 24 before the Aggies cut the deficit down to the 16-point final decision near the end of the contest.

In total, A&M shot just 36% from the floor.

With the SEC Tournament now in their rearview mirror, the Aggies now turn their attention to "Selection Monday" when the NCAA Tournament field is announced. As of now, consensus would say A&M would be a five or six seed come decision time depending on how the rest of the country finishes out their conference tournament schedule.
