$413.58/2648 = 15.6. Highest bill in 26 years.

I imagine it's a similar approach to EnergyOgre -- early on make a very concentrated, granular effort at getting every customer the most bang for their buck, get a ton of signups, then streamline/automate things which has customers not actually getting the best deals anymore.

Never heard of Thigbe, but I am familiar with EnergyOgre. I suspect Prop Joe is correct. One of my favorite vendors does something similar, at a much more micro level. Amazon. They have a "subscribe and save" option, so I have a box of coffee pods delivered every 2 months, at a 5% discount from one time purchases at the then-current price. My $40ish order was charged at $95 last month, which obviously offset all the savings I had previously. I have canceled that recurring order - watch out for this!

If anyone knows how to set a pre-notification if the price exceeds a 5% increase from prior order in Amazon, just let me know...

We have a couple of subscribe and save items on Amazon and receive an email,(maybe 2) in advance of the shipment in plenty of time to modify it.

I signed up with them in Marchish.

The plan they put me into was higher than what I could have received on Power to Choose by a cent or two. Not a big deal but was surprised. I figured they had some negotiating power as I assumed they were creating some kind of "group buy" for their customers and retailers.

They sent me an email this week that said they can get me in a better plan and with the $250 cancellation it'll pay off in 4.5 months.

I was good with that so I clicked "approve" whatever. They got me in a plan that's roughly half of what my current rate is but the only problem is it ends in May.

I'm a little concerned I'm gonna get hosed next May right when energy prices usually go up from what I know.

My biggest gripe is everything is so secretive until they sign you up with whatever.

I get most people don't care and it works for them but I want a whole lot more details.

Actually, all I really want is rate and term. If they'd present that to me I'd feel much better before I approve anything.

I had a similar experience earlier this year with the energy broker I've been using for many years for my home and my business.

They "gave" me a renewal rate with my existing provider that was higher than the rate the same provider showed on Power to Choose.

I contacted them and said if you'd like me to renew (through the broker) we need to improve the quote because it's lower on the internet.

They gave me some *&^% about 'new customers only' etc... and then split the difference.

I took it because they've save me quite a few $$ in past years, but I really thought they could have done better.

I dunno.

Guess I'll have to tell my elderly mother that if I ever move her in my garage she'll have to get by with a fan because I can't afford to air condition it.

I still have Energy Ogre and I haven't had any issues.

Yes, they put people in 12+ month contracts. But I'd rather them do that if it's the lowest rate vs. doing short term just to make it seem like they're doing something.

For the first time, they actually contacted me a couple months ago to suggest canceling my current plan and switching with the drop in rates. They broke out the difference in rate, my usage, and breakeven time. Obviously I could have done all this myself but nice that they are actually doing something....

I started with thigbe about a year and a half ago. They've kept me under where I was when I left Ogre. Maybe market prices are down overall, IDK. I'm still happy with thigbe.
