I've got a broad market bond fund in my 401K

I can see how the price of my bonds move up and down each day.

But do I get the yield as well?

Almost certainly you get the total return (price movement + yield). There could be a synthetic investment that tracks an index that is price return only, but I wouldn't expect that in a 401k. PR (for price return only) would likely be in the name in that instance.

I guess this is real bonds, hard to tell. I have not found where I realize any yield in my 401K statement though

Yes, you're getting the yield its just being included in the overall value of the fund, you aren't seeing a breakout of it.

I'm old (c/o '73) and 100% equity in my brokerage account which includes 3 IRA's. On 31 December I was down 17%. The other person in my house has a 60-40 portfolio and she's down a bit over 22%. But expect bonds to do well once the Fed quits raising rates.
