Looking for some advise on what to do with Some ESOP shares from my previous employer.

Currently I have about $15k worth of shares that are fully vested and have been moved into the free share account within Computershare. I am thinking about using it for some renovations to my home that aren't necessary, but would improve the value of the home. I'll get taxed at my income tax rate plus capital gains tax, right? I can roll $6k of it into an IRA as well if I've researched correctly.

Curious what other people have done with cashed out, vested ESOPs.

I have an ESPP where there is a discount to buy the shares. Basically free money. I unload them as soon as I get them and reallocate to SPY/QQQ

Rolled mine into my 401k to avoid income taxes and capital gains taxes.
