I work overseas and materials keep getting rolled over across all my suppliers.

All the freight forwarders have said they've never seen anything like this before. How bad is this screwing up your projects at the moment?

Lead times are longer but freight terms have stayed the same. I'm just a simple outside guy in lighting distribution.

Not for me - longer lead times and more expensive items.

We have tons of freight up north at a couple of factories that we can't get trucks for. Missed our deliveries two weeks now.

Container shortages everywhere and delays in getting full ships to move goods. Huge mess.

There is also a giant shortage of supplies (wood, cardboard, etc). I have a vendor who can't ship, because they can't get enough wooden crates to ship their product in.

Trucks are tight and rates up across the board it seems

Just paid $6500 for a 20' container from Zhuhai, CN to Quebec City. It was $5000 in December. It was $4000 in September

Our motors come from China and they issued a 25% increase overnight. They haven't even shipped the product yet even though it should be on the water right now. It's supposed to be here in two weeks.

We are screwed.

Sounds like some of the impacts here are result of lumber shortage and subsequent high prices discussed in other threads.

If you are trying to get an international shipment moved via airfreight, is it better to retain freight forwarder at point of origin or point of destination?

Also, It seems like moving and freight forwarding services continue to be overwhelmed.

What you seeing out there?
