Looks like the 4 BTC ETFs up for approval are on the docket for that in next couple of weeks.

Watch them deny the first one, tank the price, and approve one of the next.

I'd be pretty surprised if all of them got shot down. Way too much big money involved at this point.

Right now I have about an 80/20 ratio of Bitcoin/Ethereum. Debating selling all of the Ethereum tonight and selling out to BTC. I am also selling all the little **** coins money I have played with, and made money with.

There is more up side with ETH. I think your ratios are fine as-is. #Not financial advice.

Short term maybe. Long term no.

If ETH 2.0 is successful and DEFI explodes, ETH will return a high rate on investment than bitcoin short-term and long-term.

If you're trying to trade: Right now I think ETH is ahead of BTC, but both are high. Feels like a good time to either swap ETH to BTC or even ETH and BTC to stable coin.

Like I'm more confident in BTC going to 50 than 60 short term, or ETH going to 3000 before it hits 4000.

I am short term on that decision.

I am bullish on both.

Is it a ****coin?
If bitcoin, no.
If not bitcoin, yes.

I can also swap ****coin for altcoin, if that makes you feel different.

The USD is a ****coin, and it's got 250 years of developers and an ecosystem built around it, still a scam coin.

Go read that history lesson I posted from gladstein. Lemme know if that perspective changes your viewpoint.

Forgot you are a bitcoin maxi. ETH is not bitcoin. No argument on that.

But geez you can't just ignore the NFT, gaming and DEFI projects that exist on blockchains on ETH, SOL, Avax etc.

Oh no I absolutely can.

Its decentralized in name only. It's base layer is transitioning to another gender. I've gone into great detail on this topic in the past.

Ethereum is an interesting protocol, but one that is full of promises and little else. If bitcoin were to cease to exist, and ethereun THE coin, govts would celebrate as you can absolutely dominate eth, where its programmatically infeasible in bitcoin.

If you haven't done your homework or been around long enough to live the history, I cannot emphasize enough the gladstein post about cypherpunks and the goal of bitcoins existence versus the ****coin-casino producing Ethereum that reinvents itself every year as each new reinvention fails.

Gamble all you want, if it ain't bitcoin, it's ****coin. There is no alternative.

Getting excited about each iteration of the NEWEST VC [venture capital] coin is a fools errand.

If you were sent into Aladdin's Cave of Wonder to retrieve "decentralized money" you'd be consumed after you grasped for an NFT or DINO-Fi. Hell, I'm watching you be consumed now.

Ahh ETFs - when they did the gold etf back in '04 - it's just been gangbusters over the years.

Is it too late to jump into BTE? I avoided crypto all this time mostly out of a lack of understanding. Recently I've had a few friends really get into it (mostly meme coin gambling) but they convinced me to look into crypto. I read "The Bitcoin Standard" and left it pretty convinced about BTE from an economic perspective, but it always seems like I'm not doing much for myself investing at 60k. Seems like I'm a few years too late at this point.

Anybody suggest otherwise?

I might look into ETH but I don't understand it yet. I have played with a couple altcoins but purely for gambling purposes. If I invest I only plan to focus on BTE and maybe ETH

60!

Bitcoin has such a good marketing team, oh wait it doesn't have a marketing team.... whatzit, howzit.... doesn't make any sense. No VC's behind it, no billions of devs... so fkn strange.

It just works, over and over and over and over... that's the marketing team.

Just DCA into BTC. You'll capture the highs and lows and it will still be going mostly up imo.

I've considered that. That's how I handle the rest of my investments so it makes sense here.

Also, is there a better (ie cheaper fees) way to buy vs Coinbase that isn't overly complicated?

Contrary opinion here, the time to DCA was the past three years. Too late now, we are getting close to the cycle top.

It's to late from 3x growth potential for this year. But bitcoin is estimated to reach 100k by EOY. I would put in half what you are planning to put into BTC now and then DCA the other half when prices dip.

ETH is good project and would recommend having it in your crypto portfolio. Also, look into SOL. It is a competitor of ETH and should finish #2 in the smart contracts blockchain world. LINK, MATIC are other ones to look into as well.

But BTC is the safest crypto assest. So I would say have atleast 80% BTC and 20% in others is the best allocation in my personal opinion.

Also, get a coinbase pro account. You will save tons in fees.

The idea of DCA is to continually purchase to average your costs. Who knows how high or low BTC will go in the next few weeks let alone the next decade. Everyone said that it's too high at $10k, $20k, $30k, $40k.... Best time was yesterday, second best time to buy is now. They aren't making any more and most people are hodling

Pull up a Bitcoin log chart

It's been operating off the same, 4-year cycle structure since inception. We had blow off tops in late-2014, late-2018, and now... the beginning stages of retail fomo are beginning in late-2021.

Nobody knows how high it will go but buying for a long-term hold at this point is not wise. Wait 2 years.

Short-term hold is probably wise though
