Any advice on a program/software for buying/trading stocks for a newbie?

You'll get a couple different suggestions but I use Charles Schwab. All are pretty decent tho

i tried Fidelity Active trader pro, people say TD is good

I might get attacked for saying this, but Robinhood is a great way to get started with trading and understanding some of the ends and outs of trading with an easy interface. I would advise moving to a brokerage like TD once you start growing your portfolio and becoming more serious about trading.

They did so I'll emphasize the "getting started" part.

If you're serious about making a profit or day trading, definitely look somewhere else. Robinhood helped me get my feet wet when I started a few years back.
