How would you invest $1,000 for the next 6-12 months?
We're going on a trip in January (plane tickets are already covered) and wanna use this money for other trip expenses. What would y'all do?

I'm pretty new to investing, and would love y'all's insight.

Money Market or Online Savings, which will get you virtually nothing in that timeframe with $1,000.

have any credit card debt? If so, pay that down now...and run the balance back up while on your trip.

Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. 6 months interest on $1,000 is hardly going to be worth the effort.

A short time frame and money that you really don't want to put at risk? Just do an online savings account and be done with it.

There are no 6 month investments. There are either cash preservation items or gambles with that time horizon. Even a 5% return over 6 months is only $25, so not really sure what you were looking for.

Looking ahead, make plans for after you spend your money on this trip to start actually setting aside long term investments. The answer to what to do with that is the many stock market investment options (I'm assuming you are young).

To clarify, you are asking what you could put $1000 in that you need to enjoy your vacation next year. The hope is that, say you turn it into $2000 (100% return in 6 months)... At the same time, you are willing to accept it could be worth $200.

Is that a fair criteria? If so... Throw it in one of the 3x etfs. Or bet it all on black!

Technically speaking, is it cheaper to do the EFTs? Betting on black costs what the casino earns on the two green slots. Now, betting on black is the easiest.

If you want to see REAL returns on a 1k investment in 6 months, invest in a highly levered ETF. Make sure it's in a sector that's highly sensitive to trade relationships to further enhance the stocks' volatilities in this tariff-crazy time we live in (haters will call this volatility risk, but they're pansies. It's actually potential gainz, man).

Good luck! You'll either end up in a luxury suite or canceling your entire vacation because you lost all your money.

But what if there is a fire in the domicile? Seems pretty risky to me.

I'm not trying to be a texags billionaire, but if you're trying to make money with a thousand bucks earmarked for a vacation... re-evaluate things.

Stick it in a savings account and enjoy your vacation. That's not enough money or time to make money.
