Do we have anyone around who knows the ins and outs of long term disability and Social Security disability?

The woman we're assisting has long term disability making payment but wants them to apply for SS disability. Obviously they want SS to cover most or all of the $2800.

I want to know if the family is required to file for SS disability? Are the rules clear that it's total max out at $2800, or is their circumstances where the family can keep both?

Most LTDI policies require the insured to apply for SSDI and many offset the benefit by SSDI, but not all. You need to get the policy and see the details.
