Class of '80 here- BBA Finance.

Being the party animal that I was, I'd always try to catch Rukeyser on Friday nights on PBS.

I miss his steady and humorous (the master of puns) analysis. Wish we had someone like him these days.

I was fortunate to speak with him for a few minutes when I was about 25. He was charming, polite, and engaging. He was kind to this young amateur investor. Then we talked about fishing. (He was in Anchorage for a speaking engagement.)

Edit:
Added his broadcast from 10 days after 9-11.

Such a wise man.

Nav,

My dad and I saw Rukeyser live in Austin in the early '80s, and he was most entertaining.

I still remember one of his quips - something along the lines of -- 'Critics are bashing corporations for booking obscene profits this year. If that's the case, I hope that next year profits will be downright pornographic!"

BTW, we probably rubbed shoulders in the Finance Club. I wonder if today's Finance majors are still getting the heavy dose of Chicago School monetarist-influenced economics that we did.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing on Friday. We used to make the kids watch WSW with us and then we'd watch their movies the rest of the night.

For sure. Seems especially timely since we lost Nightly Business Report in December.
